Experience the ideas of renowned educator, Nancy Pollett.  Her work, Research Without Copying, offers methods of teaching students to create an original product from basic research.  Explore how to help students to showcase their learning in a special evening event, Night of the Notables.  This becomes an much anticipated event annually.  See examples of how Parkview High School presents the annual Tales of the Crypt to draw the community into the drama, history and romance of Arkansas history.  

Project Based Research
Teacher will provide research materials, technology, primary and secondary sources, and best research methods for students.
Students will choose a notable to research and create a project, a research paper, a bibliography, a time-line, a Power Point Presentation, and a production for the community.
Objectives/outcomes
Students will learn about the life of a notable person in history.
They will learn how to use primary sources and secondary sources.
They will learn about reliable sources.
They will learn computer safety when doing internet research.
They will learn how to use technology to make a bibliography and time-line.
Students will create a project, a research paper, a bibliography, a time-line, a Power Point presentation, and a production for the community.
