Putting Words Into Motion
Example English and literature assignments include:
1. Interpret a scene from a movie, novel, poem, or play.
2. Summarize and retell a story.
3. Create your own story.
4. Re-enact a short fable, legend, or myth.
Using stop motion video can inspire students to be more creative and use higher levels of thinking with their English or literature products.

Participants will learn how stop motion video can be used to support students’ creative abilities, centered around writing and literature. Participants will gain hands on experience in how this technology allows students to create authentic products, curate their ideas in a visual platform, and collaborate with classmates during this process.

Responding to Apocalyptic Literature through Writing: A Collaborative Experience
Apocalyptic literature encompasses tales of supernaturally inspired cataclysmic events that transpire at the end of the world. It addresses issues of what it means to survive during and after events that ravage life and society; what it means in terms of reconstruction of society, government, culture, etc. as known by the modern human. In this session, we will discuss how using apocalyptic literature as anchor texts supports various genres of writing (narrative, expository, argumentative, research) and promotes an authentic writing experience for the student.
